It’s November, the month of Thanksgiving and the traditional beginning of the Christmas season. We so enjoy this time of year, and we hope you really enjoy our November issue of SGNScoops Magazine.

Our cover story this month is none other than Bill Gaither, Mr. Gospel Music. Craig Harris spoke with Mr. Gaither and he gives us a look into the Gaither Vocal Band and their endeavors.
Debbie Seagraves talks to pianist James Rainey about miracles; Erin Stevens talks to Abigail Aldridge of the Hoskins Family; Jimmy Reno gives us a review of the new Michael English CD; and Justin Gilmore talks to mixed group, The Foresters.
Don’t miss Charlie Griffin’s historical features on Southern Gospel Music Promoters, and Robert York’s look at WATC TV in Atlanta Georgia.
There is much, much more, including pictures from the Dove Awards, the Diamond Award winners, and special Thanksgiving features.
At SGNScoops, we give thanks to the Lord God Almighty for his constant provision, saving grace, and safety as we travel. We are also thankful to you, our readers, artists, writers, and all the staff that make our monthly issues possible. We hope you have a terrific Thanksgiving!

Eagle’s Wings Returns To Southern Gospel Weekend 2018

Eagle’s Wings Returns To Southern Gospel Weekend 2018

Eagle’s Wings is a Bluegrass/Southern Gospel band that hails from Jasper, Ala. The group consists of members Darryle Wilson, Debbi Wilson, Matt Wilson, Kevin Chambers and Jacob Patterson.

Darryle and Debbi performed secular music before they became Christians and then formed the group, Family Circle. In 2008, this band began performing under the name of Eagle’s Wings. If you like Bluegrass family harmony, you will love Eagle’s Wings.

Darryle is the patriarch of the group and has always been involved in music. He grew up in the church where his dad was a deacon and his mother was the head of the women’s group. He was involved in music in high school and college and was faithful to the church until he went to college and got out of the habit of going to church.

Darryl married Debbi Busby, and they got involved in Country Music until 1979. After many visits from a member of the local church where they lived, he rededicated his life to the Lord, and about a month later, Debbi did the same. That is when they began attending church and started singing Gospel Music.
Come hear this awesome group at SGW 2018!

Trinity 3 Announces Changes

Trinity 3 Announces Changes

Sunday night (11/19/17) was a great night at First Christian Church in Columbus, MS but it was also an emotional night for us. After much prayer, our very own Makenzie Conn has decided her time with Trinity 3 has come to an end. The decision was made last week as she feels that God may be leading her in another direction. We finished up our 2017 schedule last night as the original Trinity 3. We ask that you please keep Makenzie in your prayers as she feels she is doing the right thing, and please also keep the rest of us in your prayers as we make this transition. We respect Makenzie’s decision and wish her nothing but the best in her future. She will do great things and we are proud of her and love her!

As for the future of Trinity 3, it continues on! We all feel that we are exactly where God wants us and will continue to do what he called us to do. We are currently searching for someone to fill these shoes so please pray that  the right person is sent our direction. God is already showing us that we are doing the right thing, and we are grateful. We will not be cancelling any 2018 bookings, only continuing to book more so we can do exactly what he called us to do. Our 2018 year will start back in February so give us a call if you would like to have us worship with you. We love you all and thank you again for your continued prayers!
Trinity 3 can be contacted for bookings by calling 205.535.6633.
Their website is www.trinity3music.com.

Rob Patz writes his Thanksgiving Prayer

Rob Patz writes his Thanksgiving prayer

Rob Patz writes his Thanksgiving prayer

It is hard to believe that it is already the month of November and almost Thanksgiving. By the time you read this, Creekside 2017 will almost be in the books. I want to invite you right now to make plans to be with us for Creekside 2018.

I was sitting here and pondering the month of November, the month with the holiday we celebrate here in the United States as Thanksgiving. I am thankful for many things throughout this year … thankful for health and the health of my family, for the many blessings that God has provided throughout this year in so many different areas of my life. I’m thankful for the country that I live in and the freedom that I have to write to you without fear of it being censored. I’m thankful for those that have the right to protest. I’m also thankful for those who fight for that right for those to protest and for people like me to write what is on my heart.

Rob Patz writes his Thanksgiving prayer

Rob Patz

In the society that we live in, we have to understand that the checks and balances that are there, are there for a reason. If we believe in freedom of speech, or the freedom of the written word, we also must allow those that don’t agree with us that same right to be able to protest or write about their feelings. I think if you asked anyone who has served this country, they would tell you they fight for everyone, not just those that they agree with.

I know that it’s popular right now to bash those who disagree with us. I find that to be very foolish. In any area of our life, if we don’t learn to love and accept those around us, how are we ever going to reach them with the message of the cross? I think it’s time that we stop making the world “us against them.” It will take all of us together to create an atmosphere of love, not hate.

As I sit here and write this, my Thanksgiving prayer this year is for each and every one of us to stop and agree to disagree. To disagree is only natural. Each of us has been raised differently. We come from different socioeconomic backgrounds. We even come from different churches, but I want to challenge you today to stop looking for the negative and start looking for the positive. Start believing in your fellow man and in the person that lives next door. The only way we’re ever truly going to be able to show Jesus to anyone is to first show them that we care.

I hope that each and every one of you have a blessed Thanksgiving. I know I’m already excited about the pumpkin pie, and I’m also excited about Southern Gospel Weekend in Oxford, Ala., from March 1-3, 2018. Come and be with us.
